PROFILE


Isabella Rovo was born in Brasilia, a melting pot of different cultural expressions brought by the immigrants who came to build the new capital of Brasil.
With a bachelor degree in in Arts from “Universidade de Brasília”, since 1991, Isabella has been working with music, folklore and arts, both as artist and educator. 

As a musician, Isabella currently take part in different musical projects: Zabumba de Chita - gathering women around forró, Cavidejê where she sings classical sambas accompanied by Bororó Felipe and Ricardo de Pina, Choro na Calçada where she plays pandeiro with Jerônimo Forzani, Mauro Cruz and Naruh Payne and since 2011 Camerata Caipira besides Victor Batista, Bosco Oliveira, Nelson Latif and Sandro Alves, which performes a variety of Brazilian rhythms.

In 2013 Camerata caipira performed at WOMAD NZ and released their first album. In 2014 they performed at Brazilian Day in Sydney and Floriade Festival in Canberra, Austrália. In 2016 they toured in Europe travelling around Portugal and Holland. In 2018 the group recorded the second album, for kids, talking about the Brazilian fauna. www.cameratacaipira.com

Isabella lived in New Zealand from 2008 to 2010, where she developed an intense musical work, putting together the bands Brazealand and Roda de Samba, integrating musicians from Brazil and New Zealander alike. Brazealand performed at the Botanical Magic Gardens, Aro Valley Fair, Newtown Festival, Race Relations Day at Civic Square, Reel Brazil Film Festival and Cuba Street Carnival. Isabella, along side with Clo Mudrik, was also co-producer of Live Brazil Festival 2009.  This festival that took place over three days brought to light many forms of Brazilian music and regional dances  as well as folklore, and engaged a wide local community.

Art Education
Member of the not-for-profit organization COEPi since 1998, Isabella has worked in several art-education projects: Urgente Reciclar (Urgent Recycling), a carnival group, working as costume designer and performing as flag bearer; Ponto de Cultura, a national program supported by the Ministry of Culture, working as coordinator and art teacher; Profusão Rítmica, a fusion dance group mixing and Caravana da Criança, a Circus and storytelling project in public schools.
